me vs. technology

Do you have one of these in your house?  No, you don't?  Can I live with you?

Sure, I love a good movie on a big screen.  Guess what, I am willing to pay $15 to see it each and every time as long as it's at a multi-plex!  I just wish I didn't have to look at that monster in my rec room.  It's ugly.

I hung our degrees above it so that people would know that at some point in our life we used to read books.  Speaking of books, do you see how few titles I have listed for 2010.  What in the world, but I digress.

I hate this TV.  I hate it.  It's a hazard.  Just look behind it....

Oh, yes.  That's safe.  Those silly rubber tubes really do a lot to help hide those cords.  Parenting magazines from around the world want to capture this in their next issue as the biggest DON'T when it comes to child-proofing your home.

I think it took 12 months to pay that sucker off several years ago, so I am not getting rid of it.  Plus, Toad thinks this TV is about the best thing since he married someone who does his laundry.  Imagine never having to wonder where your next pair of clean socks will come from?  Okay, I digress again.

Tomorrow, I will post how I attempted to improve this eyesore.

We have that problem with our computer in our office, but we don't have the cord problem with our widescreen TV's.... Our family room has a niche where I am assuming all of those lovely cords are since I can't see them. Upstairs in our bonus/craft room, our flat screen is on the wall & all the cords are behind the wall in the attic. When our kids were little our tv was in a closet & we put a baby gate in front of the space. I am wondering what you are going to do.

At least they are getting smaller (depth wise). I just got a flat screen and it was amazing how much smaller and lighter it was compared to the big beast I used to have.

Oh this made me laugh!! I too hate TVs. Yes, you want one around every now and then, but for the most part total eye sore. I can't wait to see what you did to improve your situation!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you've come up with! We made the mistake of buying a piece of furniture for it, with doors. Yep, they're never closed, and that thing shows dust and dirt and fingerprints, and of course the little ones have dinged it all up. (Sigh)

Not sure where in VA you are, but we may be have a blogging gal's meetup in November at my house, if you're interested let me know!

Wires are my biggest pet peeve. Monster sized televisions a close second. Of course, I have both. Fortunately. the TV died four weeks ago and we have yet to replace it. It's wonderful having conversations in the evening, playing board games and reading instead of being spoon fed whatever networks deem fit. We may never replace the gigantic box. And for the rare occasion we do want to see something, we each have laptops. Still, I am looking forward to your solution.
